Advertising Submission Guidelines
Northern Aquaculture is printed on a web press using 50lb high quality bright white newsprint. The finished trim size is 16.25" x 11". 4 colour process throughout.
Process Colour
Please ensure that your full colour ads are separated cmyk. Spot or PANTONE colours will be separated as cmyk. When preparing your images use photoshop to decrease the black ink and sharpen the images. When using reverse white type on coloured backgrounds, avoid creating background colours from more than two process colours. Avoid type under 10 pt in reverse.
SCREENS
Halftones and screens are printed at 100 line screen. A 10-20% dot gain can be expected. Please ensure that all photos are at least 200 dpi resolution. Pictures from web pages are only 72 dpi and will not reproduce as well. Northern Aquaculture cannot ensure quality of web based pictures (jpg and gif).

We do not provide proofs on submitted ads unless requested.

Digital File Submission
There are three ways to send your electronic file:
1) Post your file using your web browser: http://www.hatcheryinternational.com/capdrop.html
Multiple Files must be compressed. 1 file per upload session. Size limit 60mb. Upload may take some time.
2) Email your compressed file to (under 10mb)
3) Call for FTP coordinates
Due to an increased amount of electronic transmission to our office, we request that your files be prepared for transmission in the following ways.
- If multiple files are being sent, please compress the files into one file. We are able to accept .sea, .sit or .zip file formats. To find out more about compression software and downloads go to www.tucows.com or www.shareware.com. This also protects your file against corruption.
- It is essential that you contact the production office to let us know you have uploaded your file. Send a fax of the ad to 709-754-5067 or email us at design@naqua.com
- Labeling: label your ad files using your company name or the first few letters of. We receive a lot of files with NA or Northern Aquaculture in the title which can create confusion. PC files require the proper file extension name; .pdf (Acrobat) .txt (text only file) .eps (graphics postscript file) etc.
Northern Aquaculture prefers Macintosh files in the following formats:
- Adobe Acrobt PDF (saved as print quality or PDFx/1)
- Adobe Illustrator (all fonts converted to paths) EPS or AI files.
- Adobe photoshop (graphics/pictures saved as .tiff)
Other formats:
- Corel Draw (IMPORTANT: Corel files must be saved as eps files compatible with Illustrator. Please convert all text to paths and If possible please supply graphics and pictures as additional separate files
- Microsoft Word files are converted using PDF. A proof of your ad layout is suggested.
- Microsoft Publisher files are not supported. If you have created your ad in publisher please fax us a proof, and send the individual files to us via email. Your file can be saved as TEXT ONLY format and labelled with a .txt extension. Also include the graphic files (ie: tif, jpeg, bmp or other). We will then put the ad together using your proof and resend a proof back to you.
- It is always recommended that you call when sending digital files in any other formats.
IMPORTANT: when emailing your ad please fax a proof to our office.
